Reyna and Noah are Engaged!

October 27, 2008

We’re close to Halloween now, which is definitely a popular holiday in my house…. I like the pumkin carving, the pumpkin bread, the pumpkin pie, and being the Official Candy Sorter for my daughter. Its a cool job, I tell no lies.

I enjoyed my other cool job yesterday hanging out with Reyna and Noah for their engagement shoot. Reyna is a halloween enthusiast times ten, and she wants the world to know!!! The best way to do that…. go to a pumpkin patch for the pictures!!! I was initially concerned because Bishops pumpkin patch is pretty busy this time of year… and I was right! There were people everywhere! Reyna and I exchanged a couple of worried looks, then I marched around that place like I owned the joint, looking from some prime photo real estate… we ended up finding some really cool spots!! You know who else founds some cool spots? Mosquitos… not I have some not-so-cool spots as my “badge of courage.” These weren’t your average city mosquito, oh no.. I had to mess with some SKEETERS! (Thats country talk for Mosquitos I believe). Best of all, Reyna and Noah must be immune, cause they were totally unphased and ready to model for me!

You guys are awesome, champs in front of a camera, and good friends!

PS, she’s getting married on Halloween also! Top THAT you fellow All Hallows Eve fanatics!!! .. I wonder if I get to wear a costume to the wedding? =)

Dont miss the slideshow link at the bottom!

We were sooo lucky to find this spot!! I saw the sunset and was looking for high ground… there was a man-made mountain, staring right back at us. Thank you, photo gods!!

Nelson and Linda: Engagement

October 17, 2008

As I walk up to meet Nelson and Linda, I see a cool looking couple sitting outside… “I hope thats them” I think to myself… “I dont want to look like a lost puppy.” I told Linda that I’d be the tall skinny guy in a tie ( yeah, thats how I roll), and the girl at this table sees me and smiles. “Yes!” I think to myself. “It’s them!” No lost puppy syndrome =)

So we talked about their big day and what they would like to see in their photos, and already ideas are pouring into my head like the floodgates have been opened. We agree to go check out Old Sac and dig up some fresh perspetive in a popular photo spot. Its easy to get pigeonholed into some of the obvious choices in our humble downtown, but we all agreed… no Capital!! We’re not politicians=)

Nelson told me their story, the way that they came together. They’re high school sweethearts, just like me and my honey, so already I had a soft spot… nothing like 4 hour phone conversations when your 17 that just says “I Love You” !!!

Fast forward to picture time! I was super excited to get out there and get to work because Nelson let me know that Linda LOVES having her picture taken (although he could take it or leave it…you did good homie!) …well I LOVE taking them, so I knew two things: 1. This was going to be a ton of fun! and 2. There is no way I can do only a 2 hour session! We walked the street and shot cool spots along the way… Gotta keep it fresh! I HAD to stay until sunset to get a cool shot at the bridge, and it was totally worth it. We’re shooting their wedding in two weeks (!) so stay tuned for more goodies…

My new friends Nelson and Linda…you rock! Thanks for doing all of the crazy/silly stuff I made you do!

To see more, check out their slideshow HERE ….feel free to watch it a couple times=)
