Ahh…. Can you taste that?

November 11, 2008

Thats what we call the taste of Victory. I used to stare at my old website, picking it apart. I don’t really like that…. this is too small… too big… too slow… too something. Looking at my website was like looking at your alarm clock one last time on sunday night, knowing that the next time you see those glowing green digits, its a Monday. After much primping and testing, I launched my new website! I’m totally stoked on the new layout, the simplicity, the animation, and just the overall feel. Since I designed it, I feel like its so much more me than the previous design.

Obviously I have this fantasy that every bride who ever looks at it falls desperately in love with the design elements, realizes I’m awesome, and hires me immediately. I did say it was a fantasy right?
I hope it encourages any viewer to stay just a little bit longer, and get comfy. Kick off the shoes and nestle into that butt-shaped cushion on the couch… the “favorite” cushion…and explore.

The fun part is… I can change the design at will, so there will be minor upgrades frequently, and major overhauls every so often. Thanks David Jay for designing a website solution for people who dont want to email a graphic designer when they have an idea at 2 in the morning.

Happy Monday everyone!!

So close!!!

I’m so close to launching the new website… I’m excited to get this thing off the ground! ITs going to be a complete redesign and a step towards a custom site, rather than the template based site I used previously… stay tuned and check www.dshillingphoto.com often… you might just see my new site up and running!!!

Nelson and Linda: Wedding

November 4, 2008

As I arrived at Lindas Mothers home, Starbucks and umbrella in hand, I realize that I have to choose between carrying one or the other.. being the loyal customer that I am, I choose the Starbucks. Raindrops are hurdling to the ground as I see Linda silhouetted against the opening of her front door. She gives me that famous Linda smile as I spot two big red umbrellas near the door, just in case.

She’s getting married today, and a little rain isnt going to stop her! And it wasnt going to stop Nelson from claiming his bride! Nelson and his entourage arrived to a locked door, and had to perform various tasks in order to gain entry to his new bride. Just to give you all an idea, getting inside involved pantyhose, saltine crackers, and a whole pack of Bubble Yum…and the bridesmaids called the shots!

As the rain paused ever-so-briefly, we took that opportunity to shoot some fun formals, and pause to enjoy the day. Then at Happy Garden in South Sacramento, one THOUSAND people arrived to celebrate the newlyweds vow to eachother. That place was alive with drinks clanging together from toasts to good heath and prosperity, couples laughing and sharing stories, and enjoying REAL chinese food.

Nelson and Linda, you guys rock! I dont know how you were able to smile so big for all of those pictures!! I still owe you a Dinner at Joe’s , and I look forward to your Anniversary shoot next year!!!
