Its pretty hard to hide how much I love the city. Skyscrapers, one way streets, steam coming from man-holes… theres so much hidden romance in both the old and new architecture blended together. I can feel the sense of pride that goes into a well-excuted architectural marvel shooting into the sky. Lucky for me, I’m marrying a city girl. Jenny thinks camping involves taking ten paces from your car and setting up shop, and only if there is a bathroom and shower on site. I love my city girl<3

We spent her birthday weekend in the shopping district of San Francisco, and although we only covered the space between Saks and Nieman Marcus, we did it in style. Our first purchases were some ridiculously cool hats from a street vendor, who hand-made each one right there, all day long. I love supporting local businesses! There were a few different vendors like this, selling hand-crafted items day in and day out, and I felt a connection with them… they are creating something that they’re proud of…and although I woudn’t be a normal photographer if I wasn’t totally hard on myself, I feel proud to give my clients hand-crafted work. If they are as excited as we were to come home with our new treasures, it makes my job as a photographer so worthwhile.

When life hands you a fork, make a ring out of it =)

Much<3,

I really enjoyed Nelson and Lindas wedding… fun, laughter, family, partying until the wee hours and spending time with my new friends. There were only two things missing: time, and sunshine. Well Linda is always down for a shoot, so we headed out to Gibson Ranch to enjoy whole lot more of what we didn’t get before.. time and sunshine. Enjoy some delicious eye candy!

You guys rocked this one big time!!! Thanks for being awesome clients and friends.

Much<3,

Dave

A Fun Experience

April 15, 2009

I’m always making sure that my shoots are fun, my clients are enjoying their experience, and they have their expectations exceeded. We all deserve some fun! I had fun at lunch yesterday when a cheery and energetic hostess mentioned that she could use two toothpicks and two forks and balance the whole thing on a salt shaker. So I told her I wanted to see, and the photo above is the result. Was it simple? Yes. Was is it fun? Yes. Will I go back? I ate there for lunch again today! My hostess didn’t do any amazing stunts today, but my serve was still friendly and welcoming. If you’ve ever in Folsom, CA, stop by Malibar and grab a bite! And ask about the forks and toothpicks =)

Bridal Shoot

April 15, 2009

I had a great time shooting Bridal shots in the city this week with my chica and model Mayra. She’s moving to Alabama ( hopefully touched down safely tonight) and she owed me a shoot… she was so awesome and accomodating that she let me do a 4 hour shoot the day before she moves across the country. I think I owe HER at this point! This girl is never without a smile and her trademark dimples, but she pulled some ferocious looks for me!

Big thanks to my friend Vicki at Bella Bloom in Downtown Sacramento for providing the bouquet on short notice… lifesaver the candy has got nothin on you girl!!!

You BROUGHT IT girl!

Much <3, especially to Mayra, whom I will miss dearly. Good Luck out there, and make us proud! And you know we're cutting up that dress when you get back =)
