Ahhh. three day weekends are awesome, aren’t they? With the whole posse off of work today, we had a lil BBQ at home, and enjoyed our freedom to do so. The freedom provided by hard working men and women in the U.S. Military who work hard every day to protect our way of life at home and abroad. My family and I thank you all for doing what we are too cowardly to do. We made an extra s’mores for you!

May 26, 2009Preston Castle Fashion Shoot
May 24, 2009So here I am one day, browsing my Facebook and commenting on all of the cool stuff my friends do all day, when I get a message from Jessie Cho inviting me to shoot some models wearing super cool dresses in an old run-down castle… Hm, lets see. They have: Gorgeous girls… check. Locally designed dresses… check. Run-down catle with dilapidated Tiffany-blue walls… check. Pretty sure my head would have exploded if she had said free pizza and beer! So I headed down to Preston Castle with my buddy Jackie from Jacqueline Photography. We were facebook buddies but we finally got a chance to kick it and shoot. Jackie is a camera gangsta, and she knows how to work those crazy things. Since the models needed glam time before the shoot, I made Jackie model for me first… yes girl, I AM blogging this right now.

Once we saw some dolled up ladies coming our way, we got down to biz, and put those girls to work! I spent most of the day with our first model Jessie, who coincidentally would change dresses and be ready just as I was looking for an available model. Lucky for me, she can make the eyes POP! like Orville Redenbacher.

These ones just about melted my camera… sizzlin!
Thanks to Image Provocateur for making the girls look glamorous, and thanks to the models who contorted, squished, and froze whenever I asked. You made these pictures what they are, ladies!!

People asked me how my weekend went, and I had to tell them that Friday was the most awesom-est day of the week. See, I met this fabulous girl named Sienna and her man Jeremy, and they know the same secret that I do: Friday is the new Saturday. For weddings, that is =) Jessica Moores from Stout Photography and I headed down a two lane road, alongside a river, and passed tons of cool old barns until we arrived at the majestic Grand Island Mansion to photograph their wedding. Might come back to shoot at some of those barns though =)
It was guys vs. girls today, and I hung out with Jeremy and his buddies, and Jessica was shooting with Sienna and her girls. Close match… I think the guys may have taken the awesome trophy by just a smidgen.

Sienna and Jeremy chose a First Look for their wedding, which I love. This gave us them the time to be alone with eachother on their wedding day, spend some quality time together before they are exhausted from hosting and dancing, and take fabulous pictures arund Grand Island Mansion without interrupting the festivities. Excellent choice you two!

Look at the zoom-action shoe detail!

Are these two people in love or WHAT?
I absolutely HAD to get shots of this adorable up-d0 to show my fiance Jenny. Doesn’t she look elegant?

We snuck out on this boat on the river behind Grand Island Mansion for some picturesque photos of the guys… I had to get on somebody else’s boat to do the Titanic shot… I think someone was sleeping in there while I was trespassing…oops =) I will do whatever it take if it means I can deliverĀ fun wedding photos or alternative wedding photos!

I added a little bit of texture love to this one… its like an old shoe, it just has more character.

Sienna and Jeremy, thanks for inviting us to one of the most important days of your life. I wish you a lifetime of happiness!
Much <3,
Dave
I stepped in front of the camera.. on purpose!
May 24, 2009So I am two months away from being a happily married man… exciting! So much to do, so much to see, and so much to decide upon in the next 67 days. I am extremely fortunate that I did not face the challenging task of picking the perfect photographer. There are so many talented photographers in Northern California, that I could have spent a month looking for the right person. Thank goodness for my friend Jessica Moores, from Stout Photography. We rock weddings together for some of her ( lucky!) brides, and now it’s MY turn to be the client! She’s the perfect fit since she knows my style, my quirky personality, and my love of all things photo. Jessica is going to shoot my wedding at The Firehouse, and we started off with a tasty engagement session at a secret location…which required a lil bit of trespassing. Thats right, I broke the law for good pictures. I know my brides will do the same =) And now, without further ado, photos stolen shamelessly from her blog:

Yes, my other eye was totally open so I could watch a massive train fly be me like 5 feet away… that was so awesome. Jenny, on the other hand, had a kung fu grip on me cause she was scared stiff!
…and this is only Part 1…. Part 2 will embrace the city kid portion of our souls. Head on over to her blog to see more!
Thanks Jess!

Dave
