Bed Head and Breakfast

February 27, 2010

While I was checking out info online about secluded outdoor wedding spots similar to Coloma Country Inn , I found this awesome spot called Nestldown ( I really want to shoot at Nestldown!). Redwoods and lush greenery… sounds heavenly right? Well during my research I noticed that my son decided to challenge the Man of the house to a bed head contest during breakfast…IT WAS ON!

Winner by unanimous decision ( my daughter was the only voter) :

Indiana!

Looks like you’re the man of the house now, little buddy.

Happy Saturday!

Much <3,

Dave

So here I am one day, browsing my Facebook and commenting on all of the cool stuff my friends do all day, when I get a message from Jessie Cho inviting me to shoot some models wearing super cool dresses in an old run-down castle… Hm, lets see. They have: Gorgeous girls… check. Locally designed dresses… check. Run-down catle with dilapidated Tiffany-blue walls… check. Pretty sure my head would have exploded if she had said free pizza and beer! So I headed down to Preston Castle with my buddy Jackie from Jacqueline Photography. We were facebook buddies but we finally got a chance to kick it and shoot. Jackie is a camera gangsta, and she knows how to work those crazy things. Since the models needed glam time before the shoot, I made Jackie model for me first… yes girl, I AM blogging this right now.

Once we saw some dolled up ladies coming our way, we got down to biz, and put those girls to work! I spent most of the day with our first model Jessie, who coincidentally would change dresses and be ready just as I was looking for an available model. Lucky for me, she can make the eyes POP! like Orville Redenbacher.

These ones just about melted my camera… sizzlin!

Thanks to Image Provocateur for making the girls look glamorous, and thanks to the models who contorted, squished, and froze whenever I asked. You made these pictures what they are, ladies!!

Much <3,

Dave

This saturday I had the pleasure and honor of recording a different kind of important day…a baptism of two gorgeous models! Nona and Rosie were some of my best models ever!

Rosie!

Nona!

This was the first baptism I’ve attended/shot, and overall, it was a worthwhile experience! I’ve never attended a Sunday Mass at a Catholic Church before either, so I had a couple of “firsts” today.

Catholic churches are notorious for being beautiful, and this one has some awesome stained glass windows on all sides, and light was pouring through them from the afternoon sun. It was very difficult not to take photos during mass, since there was so many interesting things happening all around me… but hey, rules are rules!

We were able to get some shots done before the ceremony, which was nice, especially, with the huge wooden doors providing a backdrop. Once Mass was done, the Baptism went smoothly, and the reception at the familys house was nice, with a delicious looking cake!!! A big thank you goes out to my friends Reyna and Noah for letting me record and be a part of an important family event, and for making such a cute baby!
